⬇ General arena view from the south rim towards the north.
The arena has four upper stages served by four stairways,
two of these are raising — the east and west are fixed.

⬇ Outside view of the north stairway in its lowered position:
It is a huge area to be lifted - even if no actors are allowed on it at that time..

⬇ View below the north stairway: (1 view) the access ramp here is
short, as the north stage height is close to ground level.

⬇ Below the south stairway: (2 views) south stage height is almost
two meters above ground so the access ramp is much longer and the
supporting girder structure one third higher than the north version
(details in the model description).

⬇ ⬆ Visible in these views are the two short pneumatic pistons which
activate the single stair, and the long and incredibly slender pistons
which activate the raising of both sections together.

⬆ The three cylindrical metal casings on each side are bright
(sodium?) lamps (made by 'Aladdin' - yes!) used to create a mystic
effect while the lower stair is raised, and to avoid the internal arena
construction and security lighting being overly visible to the public.
More similar lights, further back and higher, are activated when
the full stairway is raised.
